Product Description The DHT11 is an ultra-low-cost, highly reliable digital temperature and humidity sensor module designed for easy integration with microcontrollers. It features a calibrated digital signal output that carries both temperature and humidity data on a single wire. The sensor includes a resistive-type humidity measurement component and an NTC temperature measurement component, connected to a high-performance 8-bit microcontroller. This module is the most popular choice for beginners and hobbyists due to its simplicity, pre-calibrated output, and stability over time. Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

  • 9V Battery Use: Never connect a 9V battery directly to the sensor. Always power it from the regulated 5V output of your development board. Excess voltage will destroy the internal 8-bit processor.

  • 18650 Cell: A single 18650 cell (3.7V) is a perfect power source for a mobile DHT11 node. To ensure reliable data, place a 100uF electrolytic capacitor across the power rails to smooth out voltage spikes.

  • IC & Resistor Tip: Although this module has a built-in pull-up resistor, if you are using long wires (over 5m), add an additional 4.7k Ohm resistor between VCC and Data to maintain signal timing. Avoid reading the sensor more than once every 2 seconds to prevent internal self-heating.
