Utilizing Driver-on-Board (DOB) technology, this module incorporates the AC-to-DC rectification and constant-current regulation circuitry directly onto the aluminum substrate. This eliminates the need for an external plastic-housed driver, allowing for more compact bulb designs and simplified manufacturing. Featuring 20 premium SMD LEDs, this board emits a cozy, "Warm White" glow, making it the perfect choice for living rooms, bedrooms, and hospitality environments where a soft, relaxing ambiance is desired.

Prototyping and Engineering Tips from Robogears

Thermal Interface is Vital: CRITICAL: While the PCB is aluminum, it cannot dissipate 9W of heat on its own. You MUST apply a thin layer of Thermal Paste or use a thermal adhesive pad between this PCB and the metal heatsink of the bulb housing. Failure to do so will cause the LEDs to "burn out" or dim significantly within a few hours of operation.
High Voltage Safety: This board operates at 230V AC. When soldering wires to the "L" and "N" pads, ensure there are no "cold joints" or stray strands. A single loose wire touching the aluminum edge or the bulb's metal body will cause a short circuit or an electrical shock hazard.
Surge Protection Add-on: DOB modules are sensitive to voltage spikes on the AC line. For industrial or rural areas with unstable power, we recommend adding a MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) across the L and N lines and a Fuse Resistor in series to protect the onboard IC from premature failure.
Diffuser Choice: Warm white LEDs appear best behind a high-quality frosted diffuser. This helps blend the 20 individual light points into a single, soft glow, enhancing the aesthetic of the lamp.
Non-Dimmable Warning: Most linear DOB ICs are not compatible with standard wall dimmers. Using a dimmer will cause the light to flicker or may permanently damage the internal regulation circuitry.
