Prototyping & Engineering Tips (Robogears Exclusive)

  • Battery Charging Setup: To use as a charger, first set the output voltage to your battery's "Full" level (e.g., 4.2V for 18650). Then, use a multimeter in "10A Current Mode" across the output and turn the CC potentiometer until you hit the desired charging rate (e.g., 1A).

  • Heatsink is Mandatory: At our Pimpri facility, we always advise: if you plan to draw more than 3A or 50W continuously, the included heatsink must be attached using thermal tape or glue. For maximum lifespan, active fan cooling is recommended at 5A.

  • Differential Voltage: Ensure the input voltage is at least 1.5V to 2V higher than the output voltage to maintain stable regulation.

  • Current Sensing: The module uses a low-side sensing resistor; ensure you do not common-ground the input and output "Negative" pins externally, as this will bypass the current control feature.
