• Installation Tip: To mount this pinion on a motor shaft, place the back of the motor on a solid surface to prevent the shaft from pushing through the back of the motor housing. Use a small pair of pliers or a hollow tube to press the gear onto the shaft evenly.

• Reduction Ratios: As an 8T gear, this is typically used to drive a much larger gear (e.g., 40T or 56T). Driving a 40T gear with this 8T pinion provides a 5:1 reduction, significantly increasing the torque of your small toy motor.

• Avoiding Slip: If you find the gear is spinning freely on the shaft after repeated removals, you can slightly roughen the motor shaft with sandpaper or add a tiny drop of high-strength thread-locker to restore the grip.

• Gear Meshing: Ensure that the pinion is not pressed too tightly against the secondary gear. A tiny "backlash" (a very small gap) is necessary to prevent the motor from drawing excessive current and overheating due to friction.
