• The "Yellow" Priority: CRITICAL: If you are only getting sound but no picture, check the Yellow plug. In composite video systems, the Yellow wire carries the entire video signal. Ensure it is plugged into the "Video In" port, not the "Component" Y-Pb-Pr ports, which look similar but require different signaling.

• Eliminating Audio Hum: If you hear a constant "buzzing" sound, ensure the RCA cable is not running directly parallel to a high-voltage AC power cord. The electromagnetic field from the power cord can induce noise into these unshielded analog lines.

• Cleaning Contacts: If the video looks "snowy" or colors are flickering, the nickel plating on the jack may have oxidized. Unplug the cable and clean the center pin and the outer ring with a drop of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to restore a clear connection.

• Color Mismatch Workaround: While the colors are standard, the copper wires inside are identical for the audio channels. In an emergency, if your Red wire breaks, you can use the White wire for the Video signal, provided you match the colors correctly at both the source and the destination.

• Avoid Tension: Do not let the cable hang freely if it is supporting the weight of a heavy converter box. Use a cable tie to provide strain relief so the RCA pins aren't bent inside the TV's female sockets.
